I have bloodwork done once a year & one time it indicated my D3 level was low so my doctor gave me a mega dose & has me on a 1,000 mg supplement. (Diagnosed 2003, been taking Sinemet approx 9 yrs. Also, have been taking 2 Amantadine and 2 Azilect for approx 11 or 12 yrs.)
Should I be having blood work done? I was diagnosed 5 mo ago
It's a good idea to have it checked occasionally whether you have PD or not. My GP checks it rather than my neurologist.
You can't diagnose Pd from blood samples. I wish we could. The blood levels of Dopamine do not necessarily relate to the brain levels.
Blood wok will check for some problems which look like symptoms of Parkinson's such as anaemia causing fatigue. Diabetes and high cholesterol so would be a good thing perhaps.
Worth having liver and kidney function checked. I get it done about yearly.
