amazon.com/SYNCOLEIN/dp/B01...

Syncolein is comprised of Mannitol, Alpha-Galactosidase and Maltodextrin

"Do not purchase,it's just sugar,I bought it and no results, spent $80.00 for nothing,he will not take it back "

Can I ask you how long you took Syncolein. I think you have to take it for several months before you see resilts. I've researched it alot and yes it is mostly made from Mannitol which is a safe natural sweetener. There has been research showing that Mannitol may stop the progression of PD in mice. But it has not been tested on humans. The maker of Syncolein has PD and read up on all the research and lab tests and made himself a test subject. I bought Syncolein for my mom and we took the info on it to her neurologist and he said she should give it a try. I have not been able to get her to try it yet though. I'd love to know if anyone has had any luck with it

I never took it. I was quoting from the linked review from Amazon. I am skeptical that a sugar could help and especially of any claims that it takes months to notice a difference. If you have a link to this research I'll take a look.

OK, that it is interesting. All of this seems to be based on this one study:

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

which got good results in fruit fly and mouse models. Whether it helps in humans is still up for grabs. I see no harm in substituting mannitiol for other sweeteners. However, the mice were treated by intraperitoneal injections with mannitol (1 g/kg). For a human that would be 50-100g of mannitol/day, which is a lot of sugar, especially for someone that doesn't use added sweeteners at all. The drawbacks of high sugar consumption are well known. I personally would want more evidence before inflicting that on my metabolism.

It looks like mannitol is available at Amazon for ~$20/lb. including shipping. The Syncolein product is about twice that and includes Mannitol, Alpha-Galactosidase and Maltodextrin. I ordered some mannitol just to see what it is like.

Here is an interview with Don McCammon, the developer of Syncolein.

Going to bed here and will post more on this later.

If you look up Mannitol, it is actually used in hospitals for some brain issues. They used it for Bruce Lee when he was having issues but caught issues too late. I believe its used to reduce swelling in the brain.
