New made-in-Canada treatment offers hope to millions suffering from brain diseases
Using sound to heal. Interesting. Many years ago, I read a book by an M.D. who was from India but was educated and practiced in the U.S. He was doing research into ancient yogic healing systems in India to see if they actually had any healing power or were they just a bunch of mumbo-jumbo. What he found was interesting. The one thing that stands out in my mind from his book was his investigation of the healing claims of certain mantras given by yogis to their students. These mantras were to be repeated many times each day and the students were told that they would be healed of certain things through use of the mantras. What the M.D. discovered was that different vocal sounds made by use of different mantras resonate through the skull at different places and cause stimulation to different parts of the brain. Somehow, the yogi would know the place in the student's brain that needed healing, and would give the student the appropriate mantra to stimulate the appropriate place in the brain.
Since developing PD, I've often wondered if making prescribed vocal sounds daily could cause the dopamanergic cells in the brain to produce more dopamine or could cause the brain to produce more of whatever else we need to heal from PD.
