Anyone else finding this a problem alongside the arthur? Yoga is often recomended to help keep arthrtic joints supple but for the many people I know with Arthritis who also have Hyper mobility syndromes such as EDS, it really can damage a joint that extends too much, has fragile cartilage or is prone to dislocate. Any tips?

One advantage of Bikram yoga is the teachers are very extensively trained and they should help ensure that any hyper-mobility issues are treated with great care.

Thats whats needed for sure, an instructor who is aware of the dangers of a inflamed hyper mobile double joint. Not so easy to find. The heat must be supportive when a learning your personal boundary and strengthening muscle to support the joint. But it seems often you have to learn through pain, as many instructors remark and notice the hyper-mobility and double joints but don't know how to support it. Must be a specialist physio somewhere? Good point about the heat though Andy, thank you. We've not tried bikram, only conventional yoga and its often caused more pain the solved.

I don't know about other yogas, but with bikram the cry from the teacher is to always go to where you can, and no more. Obviously with hyper-mobility there are nuances that ideally need to be understood before going into class.
