Swelling and pain

Woke up this morning with redness and swelling from above my wrist to the top of fingers wow what pain

Have had this happen several times this calendar year. Horrific pain. Fingers stay numb for several days. It had happened in both hands. I have prednisone to take when I began feeling a flare up coming on but this hits within a few minutes. No warning. I take Tramadol but it does not help. Pain usually subsides within 3-4 days but I just sit and cry during this time. If you have had success with any treatment please share. Hope you are feeling better.
