I have moderate to severe urinary incontinence. I have some semblance of control. But I find if I hydrate with the recommended amount of water per day, the amount of incidences where I use diapers without knowing what was coming there's no chance of getting to the toilet increases quite a bit. I would rather be hydrated and use diapers more often than be dehydrated and risk health defects. Does this mean giving into the diaper? Perhaps. But really, what does it mean to be normal anyway? Who decided that it was improper for those who wear protection design for maximum absorbency to use them for their intended purpose in all cases? In my case in theory I could wear products designed to be easier to take off to use the toilet, but if ever I have a very large flood, they would not be up to the task of containment. With my underactive bladder, I have no sensation or clue how full I'm getting and can release all at once without warning. Sometimes when I hydrate, I will release small amounts of urine at random without warning. I'm not sure if I'm able to use the toilet if I hydrate properly. Therin lies my dilemma. Some days, I make it to toilet just fine, I remember to pay attention to when I need to go, and I get appropriate sensation telling me l need to urinate. However that has not been the case lately. Lately I use diapers very frequently. What it means I don't know. I'm not upset about it. It is what it is. I know that I need a hydrate more often to be healthy. If that means I need to use more diapers and change them more often instead of using the toilet as often, so be it. Life is too short to worry about will it make the toilet in time. Your mileage may vary, always talk to your doctor.
