Inadvertently diagnosed aneurysm

Hi all, hope someone can put my mind at rest cause I'm worrying myself silly about this.I had a lung scan as part of a trial recently, on the 3rd Oct and although the lung scan came back clear they picked up a couple of other things.

I'll write what they forwarded to local cardiologist and also to same at Harefield hospital.

Lung health check identified a 50mm ascending aorta with a 44mm upper abdominal aorta.

They ask if I would need annual surveillance or potential surgical management, and have also forwarded copy to my gp.

I haven't heard anything at all from anyone and have of course googled aneurysm constantly, which has led me to think all sorts!

So, my question is, does it seem like something that can wait till they get round to me, or should I be harassing someone for help?

I am a 64 year old woman who has COPD high blood pressure and i smoke around 10 a day (I know, I know).

Thanks for reading

I’m sorry. I know that this post is 9 months old but I just hope that you have had some reassurance, answers and treatment since you posted. Hate to think anyone struggling with this. My aneurysm is brain one but my friends father has had a an aortic aneurysm for many many years and is just observed. My aneurysm discovered incidentally too, that’s the trouble with detailed scans etc🙄. Hope things are going well for you… am in UK too so hope that our great ( but stressed) NHS are looking after you.
