Low diastolic value

My blood pressure readings the last couple of days have been 149/62, 135/59 & 147/63. Is the diastolic value too low? Or are these readings okay for an 83 year old with high blood pressure and on medication to bring it down?

I noticed the same with bradycardia. My cardiologist said that the slower the heart rate, the lower the diastolic pressure. Blood pressure drops during the pauses between beats. therefore the longer the pause the lower the pressure. I am not a cardiologist so I have no idea whether this is true but it sounds plausible. Maybe medication, especially bisaprolol, would have this effect.

Thank you very much for this info.

For my mom, both the systolic and diastolic numbers could go quite low, especially the systolic. The problem was largely resolved after pacemaker was inserted for the sick sinus syndrome bradycardia.

Best wishes.

I think those are excellent readings for your age.

How's your BP now?

Do you have any previous readings to compare against?

When did u start BP meds?

Diastolic 62 59 63, still looks ok.

Best wishes.

How much exercise are you getting? I find mine gets a little low if I'm not exercising/walking. I'm 72.
