•Have you been successfully treated for a brain tumour as a child?

•Do you sometimes feel isolated, worried or lost since your treatment ended?

•Do you sometimes feel that no-one else understands how you feel?

Maybe the support of a peer mentor could help.

What is a Peer Mentor?

A peer mentor is someone who uses their own experience of having survived a brain tumour as a child in order to help someone else who has been through a similar experience.

Peer mentors help to provide a space where survivors feel accepted and understood, and can provide emotional and social support. Knowing that your mentor has “been there” and has a deep understanding of your experience can be really helpful.

At Success Charity, we are piloting a new Peer Mentoring scheme. We have a group of individuals who have undertaken an accredited training course in Effective Mentoring Skills to prepare them appropriately for this role, and who are ready to take on the support of a mentee as part of an initial pilot programme.

Is it for me?

If you are over 18 years old and a survivor of a childhood brain tumour, we may be able to put you in touch with an appropriate mentor for 1:1 support sessions. These can take place over Zoom or other video calls at a mutually convenient time.
