All of the above, but also finally fulfilling my life long dream, getting the support I need to do it. I am a vegetarian, have never drunk alcohol or smoked and have just joined the gym.

Meeting people, just talking to anyone, helps confidence and self esteem too!

I've started swimming too, and loosing weight at last! My P. A.'s say I've got really strong slim legs, and I think this is helping my balence as well. I need to work on my arms and hands, especially my left as this side of my body was worse damaged by the tumour. Who knows what I'll be like this time next year?

There is no doubt that swimming is a great way for keeping fit and improving muscle tone, which in turn improved strength and balance, is a great way of maintaining and increasing strength where you are weaker, and doing your own physiotherapy. Carry on as this is also keeping you strong ..... let us know how you get on...would you write for our BraveHearts magazine if we did a fitness section ?

I think it comes hand in hand with feeling happy. I was ticking the boxes above thinking these are the times I feel happier, lighter, almost distracted (apart from getting a good night's sleep! 😀)I also think it's important to find an activity that makes you happy - a hobby. I actually have many, but my biggest is cross-stitch. This is also about mindfulness. Doing something you love can stop all the negative thoughts and help you process things with a clearer mind. I find walking does this as well, particularly when you're walking on your own on a sunny day. If you walk for long enough you'll find that you have a better perspective on things and may even be inspired.
