Best Place to Get Solid Tumor Genetic Testing for Prostate Cancer

What is the best place to get solid tumor genetic testing for Prostate Cancer?

My understanding is that the leaders are: FoundationOne, Oncomine Dx, and Illumina

And that most hospitals save your original prostate biopsy for about 10 years... and all they need is the original biopsy slide. The tests are apparently covered by Medicare and most health plans. And once you get the Doctor's order, they take over and procure the specimen from the hospital for you.

So does anyone have any experience or knowledge about FoundationOne, Oncomine Dx, and Illumina Genomic testing labs?

Cancer ABCs has just arranged a partnering agreement with a company that will perform not only genetic sequencing of solid tumor tissue but also molecular and protein sequencing. They use the labs you listed as well as others depending on the tumor and cancer type. They will perform this service for all solid tumor types.

They first obtain the tissue then decide which labs to use. Once the lab results are received back they apply computer-based artificial intelligence to generate a very granular analysis of all data received back from the labs. The AI generated material is then reviewed by a tumor board who creates a large report to both your doctor and to you. The report will include the analysis, treatment recommendations including on and off-label recommendations rated by their projected chance of being effective based on current knowledge as well as a very extensive list of scientific citations backing their analysis. Finally, they will also generate a list of targeted clinical trials you could consider based on their analysis.

Normally, this service costs $5,000, but our arrangement with them is that anybody coming through Cancer ABCs will not be charged this fee. The specific lab costs are sometimes covered by your insurance, but they might even be able to have you not pay for these charges or co-pays.

They do require tissue that is not older than 2 years.

If you might be interested in this service reach out to me.

Joel,

How about blood testing, Any recommendations there?

For prostate cancer, blood testing is not up to speed yet. There is on-going work looking at circulating tumor cells (CTCs), but it is still too early to use commercially.

My MO has just agreed to send in a request to Foundationone. They will then get the samples from the lab. If you are on medicare I am told they will cover the cost.
