This looks likes really good news. Let’s hope it can be developed and used to help us all.

Back in 2008 I was diagnosed with bronchiectasis. Then about 12 months later I was told I had pseudomonas and needed to go to hospital for 2 weeks I.V. antibiotics. When my sputum was tested again it was found I was colonised with the pseudomonas!!!!!!

After several more infections (exacerbations) and 2 weeks hospitalization each time for antibiotics with the last time involving a longer stay and me getting hospital acquired pneumonia, my consultant did some tests and decided I needed Azithromycin, one every other day. Touch wood I have only had about 3 minor exacerbations which were treated with large doses of oral antibiotics and only one warranted a 24 hour stay in hospital.

Do you know if this experimental treatment is being used yet? As far as I know I am still colonised as I have not been told otherwise.

Hi Jannie, I’m colonised with Pseudomonas too.

So far it has stayed dormant thankfully.

I’m going to discuss this link with my consultant next time I go to she her.
