'Echogenicity' in itself is just the term used to describe the fact that the sound is echoing back on the ultrasound scan.

It depends then on how they are describing the echogenecity - if it's higher echogenecity then the liver tissue may be more dense and this can be for a number of reasons. Have they said whether they think the liver is fatty, more dense, coarse in texture?

Fatty liver and fibrous liver are possible to reverse.

It totally depends on in what context they are using the term echogenecity.

Steatosis is fatty liver and yes it is reversible providing you can identify why you may have fatty liver - one type is alcohol related the other and quickly rising in cases is Non Alcohol Related Fatty Liver Disease.

The BLT has a page all about NAFLD and how to look after yourself in order to treat and reverse it (guidance for alcohol related fatty liver will be the same with the added need to avoid all alcohol too).

My ultrasounds says all sorts of different things. One say mild fatty liver infiltration and another heterogeneous cirrhotic liver!! Depends on who’s doing it. It’s subjective and depends on experience of the OP. My pancreas is course and lobulated on US,unremarkable on CT with contrast read by a consultant radiologist.

When I complained myGP went into over drive US scan CT scan CT scan with contrast all sorts of blood tests picked upon hyper parathyroid caused by low Vitamin D. Liver spleen all normal portal 25mm normal no sign of portal hypertension only thimg is echogeneticity. My heptaologist wrote on 'the cusp of cirrhosis' 2 years ago then after an improved fibroscan did not want see me again honestly i think it is all guesswork!
