Hi Pwillia and welcome :)

Fibroscan results vary depending upon the cause. My Hep C Score of 12.25 is Fibrosis F3 on the hep C scale but may be F2 on a different scale.

I'm hoping Katie, Laura, Trust or one of the others will post a chart showing what scan results are for each category.

I'm assuming the 246 is a CAP score, which (I may be wrong) shows fat levels and that might be less than 30% but I'm not 100% certain. Your 11.5 is probably your kPa score which shows liver stiffness and that figure is more likely to show fibrosis not cirrhosis. Fibrosis is reversible in a lot of cases, with a new lifestyle of eating healthy foods and exercise and zero alcohol. I'm hoping this will maybe ease any worry you have.

Even Cirrhosis is manageable and people can still live a long time, plus there are some wonderful medical research projects that seem to be coming through.

Anyway, just saying hi and others will post as they come online :)

This may help.

Hopefully your Dr will explain your results properly.

As Dave said, most fibrosis is considered reversible.

The smaller number is Kpa and is explained in the chart below and measures liver stiffness (fibrosis)

The bigger number is the CAP Score Steatosis Grade. (the percentage of the liver with fatty change)

238 to 260 dB/m = S1 11% to 33%

260 to 290 dB/m = S2 34% to 66%

Above 290 dB/m = S3 67% or more

Fibroscan score chart

Hi Paddy,

You have had some supportive and informative replies on this thread.

As the members say, it is important that you understand your FibroScan readings in context of what may have caused the level of liver stiffness. So we would suggest to contact the health care professional who performed the scan for a discussion.

Best wishes.

Hi Phillip,Your post caught my eye because my readings in Jan 2021 were similar to yours.

I also live in Canada and I was told by my gastroenterologist that I had to bring those numbers down by changing my diet and walking more as I am too old for a transplant. My liver problems are not due to alcohol, I have very high liver enzymes and no seems to know why. Anyhow I got scared enough to cut out all alcohol and white refined sugar. Also cut out a lot of white carbs that the body turns into sugar. No potatoes or rice, etc. anyways the good news is my fibroscan last month showed my readings are now 100 and 9 so diet does work. The enzymes are still up there but we do what we can. Good Luck and drink lots of coffee too !
