Hi there and welcome to our merry band. Sorry to hear of your diagnosis, hopefully we can help you with all the terminology and the terms as they come up.
As regards ALT and GGT
Elevated liver enzymes are a marker of inflammation or damage to liver cells. Inflamed or injured liver cells cause the liver enzymes alanine transaminase (ALT) and aspartate transaminase (AST) to leak into the bloodstream.
GGT stands for gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase or gamma-glutamyl transferase. It’s a common enzyme found in many of your body’s tissues and organs, including your liver. Several types of liver disease can cause a rise in GGT
You might find the glossary of term post I made up some time ago a bit helpful as us old timers and medics too are likely to slip into all the abbreviations. healthunlocked.com/britishl...
And as you are newly diagnosed have a good look at the British Liver Trust main website, the resources there are fantastic. There is a page all about cirrhosis and all it's complications, plus ones on living with liver disease, hepatic encephalopathy and the patient charter/what to expect from your care. Well worth have good look at it and either downloading or sending off for printed copies of their leaflets.

But when they listened and checked sodium I heard both doctors pannick.
The came to me and said we will have you on a ward within 30 mins,
4 days and 6 bags of sodium pumped into me my body re inflated,
