Hi all, I just wanted to report that the TIPS procedure was a success. The latest ultra sounds show that it's functioning well. It took me awhile to post and update as I did have complications. I ended up having a bleed during or shortly after TIPS and lost a lot of blood and woke up in excruciating pain.
After CT scans and ultra sounds, the doctors indeed found a hematoma in the liver. I went for an ultra sound last week and there is still a hematoma in my liver. I am thinking it has gone down in size.
I am focusing on trying to have a healthy life style to help heal my liver and also I'm waiting to see if my blood cells bounce back to increase the blood in my body that I lost.
I'm not sure if any one on this forum has had hematoma concerns and if you have, how long did it take to heal. I am assuming each patient heals differently though.
Anyways, I just wanted to report that the TIPS is in. I do have heart palpitations and feel odd at times but they say I'm a lower risk of an esophageal bleed. I will be having a scope again at the end of August and should know more then.
Thank you for listening/reading
Xo

Hi
How are you feeling now? At least it's been done now, you've done so well.
I've got Nash with fibrosis which I'm struggling with. I see my consultant on the 16th after it was cancelled on the 12th July cos of an emergency. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx
Hi Aileen! I had a TIPS in August of 2017. A month after they went back in and put in an additional stent and also did a balloon on the vein. All since then has gone well. My weight had dropped to 96# and is now back up to normal at 128#.
So glad that yours is doing well! Stay positive $ fight!
Thank you both for replying! I feel good some days, and then some days I am tired. I was told occasionally they go back in and do some tweaking and such. We have to wait a few months to see if another pregnancy should/could be possible. The doctor says I need to be safe first. So I feel like Im struggling with dealing with the fact of no more children for us, but very grateful at the same time.
Thanks for the hugs!
Not many people understand what Ive been through and its nice to talk to others.
