Appetite stimulant

I have alcohol cirrhosis since 2015 sober since then, I'm taking lactolose once daily and Centrum and portamprazole but for the last two months I have zero appetite and losing weight, does your appetite comes back with cirrhosis and have anyone been prescribed appetite stimulant to help, please let me know. And what does it mean. Thanks peppy

First congratulations on your sobriety. I have HCV chronic Cirrhosis of the liver I lost 50lbs (3.5 stone I think). During the process and after I took the medication for Hepatitis C . But gained it all back the next year. I haven’t deviated from my diet but I go up and down monthly 5 lbs a month, I take 30 mm lactolose 3 Times a day and XIFAXAN twice daily along with benzodiazepines . I would ask your physician to find you a dietitian and get a plan

Congratulations on your sobriety! My husband is in a similar situation, but he has started gaining weight. He take lactulose 2x a day along with several other meds. He hasn't been a big eater for quite awhile, and there just seems to be no real way, other than nagging to get him to eat.

Well done over the alcohol. Keep up the good work. The British liver trust and the NHS websites have some good advice on healthy eating. Are you able to exercise much? If you are eating, drinking and exercising properly, and meds are under control then you need to be proud that you are working on helping your health. Ask your doctor for advice, to see if there is anything else needs doing.

There is something else I would suggest and that's try to reduce your stress levels. Try to give yourself some you time where you can relax and safely have fun. My relaxation is reading slushy romance novels. They are so unrealistic they are funny. Good job I don't try too hard to place me and my hubby in place of the hero and heroine as I would get stitch laughing. Imagining me being able to look all sexy and being able to whip up a gourmet meal in 30 minutes and solve some big problem just isn't going to happen. Nor is my hubby going to do the same as any hero. Sorry got to go. The thought of him fighting a grizzly, dealing with a bad guy or me getting my make up immaculate is just too funny I can't concentrate.
