What does 17.5 mean in fibroscan test and the doctor said that you can not walk in public with such a high value what does it mean

Hi there, I don't know what on earth your doctor is saying in that you can not walk in public with such a high value.

A fibroscan measures the density/stiffness of your liver. The higher the value the more fibrous or scarred your liver is. The scoring is relative to the underlying cause of the liver damage so there are different charts for those with say Hep C or Alcohol related liver disease etc. etc. A score in excess of 14 is likely to indicate severe scarring or possible cirrhosis of the liver HOWEVER this is dependent on the underlying cause and really needs to be discussed with a liver specialist (not a lay person like me).

Even if you do have cirrhosis it doesn't stop you walking about in public or going about life as normal. You do however need to find out the cause of your liver damage though and if the underlying cause can be treated or lifestyle changes made you have the chance of looking after your liver better and perhaps even reversing some of the damage.

I think your Dr. Needs some education , and his turn of phase is potentially harmful , especially when he is talking out of an oriface !!!

Yes, whatever doctor that was. Should really be ashamed ! The last sort of doctor a patient would turn to for help or advice !!!!! Really angry about that comment !!!!

My scan was 75kpa (the worse possible result) and I hold down a full time job and look after two dogs. You need to ask for an explanation as if you cannot walk in public god knows what they would say about me 😂

How r u doing now ? And what food are you taking as i don't have an idea what food to take moreover can 75kp be controlled or not ? And is the treatment going effective?
