Monitoring is variable depending on the cause of your liver damage, the extent of your liver damage and whether you are on any medication for the cause of your liver damage. What is the cause, how bad is it, are you on any treatment and are you having any bloods taken but are concerned about the frequency?

Thank you Bolly and Cat 19 for your reply its good to have someone to talk to,i had a elevated blood test result ,I had a scan which showed a fatty liver and Gallstones, also low vitamin D which I take tablets for.

My Doctor asked me if I was a drinker which iam not, then said it was life style choice because of my weight iam 3 stone over ideal weight and trying to get this down, getting back to how often this should be checked I have only had one more blood since then which was higher than the first.no more advice given, I have lost some weight and waiting to see a Dietician which iam paying private for to help me to eat the right foods for my health concerns.

There are a few organisations that publish "guidelines" on how doctors should treat and monitor patients with liver diseases, such as viral hepatitis and autoimmune hepatitis. For example EASL, AASLD, NiCE. I've had a quick look online at their clinical guidelines and none have any follow up treatment guidelines for "fatty" liver (NAFLD) apart from research showing that diet and exercise should, over time, reduce the liver enzymes back to normal. They do recommend you are tested for insulin resistance and diabetes/pre diabetes.
