Cherry hemangioma

Hi ,

My father had gallbladder surgery removed but after it , there is mass showed below chest and few days ago I noticed increase in number and size of cherry hemangoma??

Please what it means?

Loads if people get them , and you get more with age. No one really knows why. You can have a biopsy on them to get them checked out. Or you can get them removed , which is considered cosmetic surgery. They just contain a mass of little blood vessels. If in a difficult place they can be knocked and bleed.

Just lost a post, so annoying. I have a few cherry angiomas on my body. Had them checked out at the doctors a couple of years go. She advised blood tests because sometimes they can be an indication of liver disease. Was relieved when blood tests came back ok, but it did make me think about my drinking. Two bottles of wine and sometimes more over the weekend had to stop. So it was a wake up call for me and have only had the odd glass of wine over the last couple of years. I'm now completely sober and don't miss it one bit. If you're worried about your Dad, get him to see his GP, to rule anything out, I'm sure he's fine, but best to be on the safe side. They are very common especially in older people, although younger people have them too. Hope this helps x

Is it possible they could be spider naevii? These indicate cirrhosis of the liver.

Hi Nivina. Cherry angiomas are like a small red spot. Spider naevii are red spots with spider like veins surrounding it. If you look them up on the Internet, you can tell which type your Dad has got. Best to get it checked to rule out any underlying cause.
