Can mango be eaten during HCV treatment or it should be avoided? Is there any specific food/fruit which should be avoided?

hi a run, the only food I was told to avoid was grapefruit as it affects the stations I'm on. it's worth a asking your Dr but I don't think there are any restrictions. good luck with the treatment. Phil

Thanks Phil. Is grapefruit bad during treatment? My mother is drinking juice of 3 grapefruits daily by mixing with 1 pomegranate. How it impacts treatment?

I'm not sure that grapefruit IS bad when being treated. I do know that many drugs aren't compatible with grapefruit e.g., statins and immune suppressants. I've not heard of mangos being similar to this. I'll ask when I see the transplant assessors. It seems that the grapefruit reacts with the drugs and reduces their efficacy. Regards Phil

Hi. I am post transplant and mangoes are on my avoid list. It's interesting as some of the so called healthy foods cannot be eaten or drank. Grapefruit, mangoes, Earl Gray tea, green tea, bananas and mushrooms to be eaten occasionally. Because they are high in potassium, potassium is an enemy of the liver but the body needs it in moderation. I hope this goes some way to help you.
