On Xmas Eve 1987 my World crumbled.
I was 18 and just completed basic training in the Army. It wasn’t for me an I bought out in November 87 after completing Basic Training.
Cut a long story short I suffered a haemorrhage on the brain stem.
In a coma a week. Had a NDE.
Had the operation to zap it with a laser.
Had another bleed and it caused a clot.
After 6 wks I went home.
Had another haemorrhage 6 months later.
Had stereotactic radiotherapy at Sheffield on a cluster of 30 to 40.
Since then I’ve crewed a tall ship to Holland and back. Been a chef. Trekked 55 miles on Gr Wall Of China for Headway, World record abseil for British Red Cross.
Live alone and collapsed Oct 2013.
Crawled to phone and rang my mum. Taken to Hull Royal and umpteen tests showed I had a leaking aneurysm on the cerebellum threatening to burst.
Injected with glue to block it but gave stroke like effects.
Learnt to walk.
Took part in the Sea Of Hull.
I’m far from lazy and now volunteer in a foodbank helping needy people
