I’m 5 months in from having a subarachnoid aneurysm, sudden severe headache knocked me off my feet, couldn’t stand up I was at work when I collapsed, lucky for me a doctor was shopping on one of the floors and ran through, and said this lady has a aneurysm, rushed to hospital, I was completely unconscious hadn’t a clue what was going on, had a CT scan which sure enough showed a bleed, I was transferred to the neurological hospital in the next town,
Consultant came and said what he had got to do, a coiling procedure,
I stayed in hospital 10 days I felt so poorly, pain in my head, neck and spine absolutely horrendous,
I came home on the 11th day and slowly recovering, I’m still struggling with awful sensation in my head and ears, loss of feeling in left leg first thing in a morning, short term memory loss and anxiety that’s awful,
I’d like to know if anyone out there just wants to feel like themselves again, and no matter what you do, yoyr just not the same, Iwas a very positive outgoing person who just wants to be like that again,
Ive got appointment at headway next week hoping I can get some support going forward
Im looking into going back to work in maybe a few months time,
Any advice would be great x

I had a subarachnoid brain haemorrhage 6 years ago now when I was in my 20s. I had the worst headache ever and was in hospital for a month. Recovery can take time so just remember to be patient with yourself. In ways I am still getting better and recovering even 6 years on, although more slowly now than when I came out of the hospital.
Everything does get better with time, just take a rest and a time out when you need to. The pain and sensations do get better with time too.
Are you finding support anywhere else? Do you go to rehab? If you think you need it, contact your consultant or doctor.
Hello Erin, so sorry I’ve only just seen your reply, thank you I’m going to Headway which I find really helpful, I’m back at the doctors today I’m signed off until 24th May but I really feel I need to be doing something now, so going to request a 4 hour day phased return four days a week, I’m still really fatigued in an afternoon, noises and lights really affect me, I’ve been away from work 7 months now, do we will see, it’s good to know the pain and sensations get better with time, just such a shock isn’t it when you just don’t expect it hope your still doing good x
So glad to hear you are doing well and headway is helping. I did the same and it helped me a lot too.
I went back to work after 3 months and this way way too soon, but I tried. I ended up staying part time for a year getting slowly better. You will feel tired, (actually exhausted...) but it does get better. And the only way you will know is to try, try everything, then decide if it is for you or not. A 4 day week may be too much. I did half days going in about 11 and lasting as long as I could, usually 2 or 3, but a lot less at the start. I was very lucky my boss was so flexible and so understanding.
The noise and lights still affect me, but less than it did, so I can sympathise with you.
Best of luck with everything and if you have any questions, just ask.
I really feel for you I know it's not same I felt like that after my stroke that's how they found my aneurism but slowly it does come back it takes time and patience with yourself I really hope you get better soon
