Stress

I strongly believe that my massive stroke etc. was down to stress. Does anyone else feel that way?

I strongly believe exactly the same. I had a SAH some years ago and made a remarkable recovery. After the bleed in the brain a small aneurysm was found but after close monitoring of this aneurysm it was felt better left well alone as I could have been born with it and it would maybe never alter in size. The aneurysm never changed for a decade THEN After having many months of stress with HMRC and taking our ex accountants to court for negligence which by the way we WON!! the aneurysm just grew to 8.00 which had stayed at 2.00 for many years. I will always say the stress and anxiety I had to go through with HMRC was the main factor of the increase in size. Maybe most of the general public aren't aware but should your accountant make errors in your accounts then the HMRC will STILL try and enforce the debt and they can move much quicker than the law!! I had a written statement from our ex accountants (Which by the way were Chartered with three branches so not a back street cheap outfit) stating they had made CRITICAL ERRORS to our accounts for a minimum of six years which was submitted to HMRC but this didn't stop HMRC coming to try and sieze goods to the value of the debt which was nearly a quarter of a million pounds!! The Lawyers could only work as fast as the law allows so we had to render our private pensions and all our savings and virtually everything we had. We were approaching Retirement age as well so it couldn't have happened at a worse time for us. As I say we fought the case only to find out that HMRC can go back as far as they like while us Tax payers can only go back four years with HMRC plus the Law has a thing called Time Barring which also only allows for six years. Once HMRC had found the errors they went back nearly 17 years in our accounts to come to the figure they did but we couldn't get anywhere near all those years back!! While we were putting our case together I was under THAT MUCH STRESS that I could feel my brain was going into overload honestly. I was working through most nights and got to the point of not been able to speak but the sooner I got the papers put together for the lawyer then the sooner we could take the ex accountants to court. I will ALWAYS BLAME the stress of the situation for the growth in my brain of the aneurysm and nothing would every convince me otherwise. Now I face some very serious brain surgery and like yourself I DO put it down to stress and anxiety and nothing else. Yes you are right and I think most brain issues are probably caused by putting it through ordeals that are way beyond it's normal capability hence it falters and let's us KNOW - It's had enough!!
