Is it safe to take Vitimin D3 while pregnant and is there enough vitimin D3 in prenatal vitimins for mother and baby if the mother is Vitimin D3 deficient?

Hi there

The Department of Health recommends that all pregnant and breastfeeding women should take a daily supplement containing 10 micrograms (0.01mg) of vitamin D, to ensure the mother's requirements for vitamin D are met and to build adequate foetal stores for early infancy. As with any medicines it would be best to check with your midwife or GP if you need a higher dose than this.

I hope this helps

Best wishes

Katherine
