Hi Lee.

I’ve been taking Strontium Ranelate since 2011 without problems. Unfortunately it’s nolonger made. I did try Strontium Citrate, again without problems, but I’m wary of relying on unregulated supplements, especially Strontium as a lot of it is mined and processed in China.

The downside is that Strontium is heavier than Ca, so gives artificially high DEXA results. My results improved on a 2 yr repeat scan in 2013, but by how much, is now open to question.

Because I was taking Strontium, I was refused any more repeat DEXA scans.

I’m still undecided what to try next. I haven’t as yet seen my GP.

I may increase my intake of vit K2 mk4, as this is supposed to aid bone strength and flexibility, but doesn’t show DEXA scan improvement, so cannot be monitored. I presently buy Carlson mk4, 5 mg capsules and take 2 a day. The Japanese dose of 45mg a day would be too expensive for me.

I have increased my protein intake as this is also important for bone health. See

Best wishes

That was a great article, thanks for posting. After reading this I will add more protein along with things I am already doing, natural diet, weighted walking, good supplements, limit alcohol and caffeine etc. Best to you on this journey.
