Hi everyone, I'm new here- but have been reading all your encouraging blogs and comments! Super, super people that you are!! I've gained strength and new understanding of how to cope with my COPD. since joining you. Have hesitated, and been nervous to blog myself!!
I did P/rehab in 2010, and there were lots of people doing it with me. Now I'm doing it again, and am amazed that there are only a very few in the class with me. A very poor take up indeed!! It's so sad I think, as it does help so much, and renews your self
confidence in every way. The 1st lot I did in 2010 set me back on my feet, and I'm hoping
that these new classes will do the same. I'm hoping to encourage people to take these classes and to ask to join them. I did this on both occasions, and you can usually get them by persistence !! It's also a lot of laughs!
Best Christmas wishes to all of you,
Shilevy xx

Glad you found the PR so helpful and managed a second course. I had one years ago and asked, on several occasions for another, but so far no response. How did you manage to get a second one so soon?
kris123 Hi kris I had PR classes a few years ago now , and am starting again in the New Year The consultant at the hospital recommended them the last time I saw him, but it wasn t until The community matrons office started asking for me that I got an assessment appointment I don t know whether you hace one in your area might be worth while findind out they also installed tele health check eqiupment to take bp readings etc. on a daily basis Wellman2
When you have done it ask the physio if she can give you a referral to the local authority gym.. I got this and one of the trainers who had done a course on pulminary fitness exercises assessed me and made a training schedule. Two years later I have never looked back. I cannot believe what I can do now to then. I still go to the gym twice a week and try to do some stretches etc. I was taught in P/rehab in between. I don't think I have been so fit since I was a teenager. It works. It does what it says on the tin. Going to the gym twice a week also has its social side, you tend to see the same people when you go on the 'concession' times. Good luck to you and have a wonderful Christmas.
Before you finish Prehab ask them about BLF Active Instructors near to wear you live ,or vist the BLF website to find out from the Map where the nearest BLF Active class is .Your nurse or doctor should be able to refer you when you complete Prehab.
Hi, Glad to see you are getting benefit from your PR. Like kris123 I had one 3 years ago but can't get another although the first one was not very well populated. So make the most of it, it really does work. Good Luck & Merry Christmas
