Lungs. (A personal view.)

Although our lungs are part of us

We must remember this

They live quite separate lives down there

A fact we often miss.

They can be really poorly

Whilst the rest of us is well

And seemingly, you must admit

That folk can rarely tell

Now this has some advantages

Which some find hard to see

Cos those darn lungs are happier

If you just let them be.

Just send them down the medicines

That you've been told they need

Then leave them to get on with it

Whilst on those meds they feed

But if you keep on messing with them

By worrying and getting up tight

Those darn old lungs as sure as hell

Will give you such a fright

So try to keep laid-back and calm

And let them do their job

They'll try to do their best for you

So you are not so SOB

How do you do it Don, cant imagine how you think these things up, its a great talent, keep cheering us up. The weather is atrocious this morning, I'll bet your glad to be home. My best friend lives in Llandudno and I thought of you driving through there. I was due to go up but think I will give it a miss until this rain clears x

Llandudno must be a lovely place to live, but it's always so very busy. Just driving though can take forever which is why I decided to bypass it this time. I shall be back to picnic on the Great Orme.

I think a lot of bits of me live completely separate lives. I don’t know what they get up to half the time, they certainly don’t keep me informed. They do their own thing. The worst is my stomach which I’m sure doesn’t like me and can be quite spiteful, either making great gurgling noises when I’m right next to someone, or waking me up in the middle of the night making thumps and rumbles. 🌩⛈🌨

Not feeling so good today Cap'n but just put my proofreaders hat on and am a tad confused by 'And seemly', - just wondered if you intended it to read 'seemingly'? Also SOB has always meant 'son of a ***** to me having lived in the US for so long - I find it hard to believe that is what you actually meant so could you translate that one just for me please? :-)

in reply to majji

I'm sorry you are not feeling so good Margaret but notice that it hasn't affected your proofreading skills. Yes I did mean 'seemingly' and I have just popped back to amend it, thank you. SOB here on BLF is usually short for 'short of breath'. I hope you feel better tomorrow, get yourself an early night, that will help. 😉

Glad to have been of some assistance Cap'n and thank you for enlightening me! I was pretty sure you had not meant what I initially thought you meant - you are such a gentleman, I thought there had to be another meaning of which of I was unaware ;-)

Me to HH.sleep well majji and wake up refreshed.you need your energies to highlight our grammatical failings or we shall get even worser :) x

majji profile image
majji in reply to skischool

I imagine that you will accomplish that with or without my assistance SirSki ;-) Did you intend to leave off an 'o'?

skischool profile image
skischool in reply to majji

I didn't even think the word worser existed and i thought i had made it up and i am terribly disappointed to find it exists in the collins dictionary so i am not even an original thinker :(

We shall from now on use the Irish version o'worser to describe something not so good. :) xx

majji profile image
majji in reply to skischool

It exists in several more . . . dictionaries that is . . .

Fabulous, Don! Are you a musician as well?

in reply to Sharp5Flat13

No, I learnt to read music and played the theatre organ back in the 1990s and infact owned a Gulbransen Palace Theatre Organ. But arthritis in my hands put an end to that unfortunately. 😕
