So yesterday I reluctantly took myself to A&E to get an X-ray after some slight additional breathlessness and chest pain after a very brief jog to get to the tube after going to the football on Tuesday night. Seemed innocuous at the time but I knew I'd done something.
Turns out it was another pneumothorax almost exactly a year after my last one. Much smaller this time but still has put me back a couple of steps after making some great progress with my fitness and life in general after a winter of discontent chest infection wise.
Alright in myself and the follow up X-ray today revealed it hasn't got any larger and may yet heal itself but all incredibly frustrating. Don't often get blue but ended up feeling a little sorry for myself last night. Woe to me isn't going to get me anywhere and I know this is the nature of lung disease but hugely frustrating all the same.
Resting today with a good book and planning on putting my feet up this weekend but all going well will be back at work next week. No exercise for a while - certainly not until my follow up X-ray next week but I'm determined not to let this disease get me down!

You do so well Andy and are always strong and determined but unfortunately there will be the odd setback or two. It goes with the territory.
You rest up and take things easy, you’ll soon be up and running (literally in your case) again. Just carry on listening to your body.

Rare degenerative lung
diseases are a pain but issues are predictable..now you need to be more vigilant, you know about winter, cold, risk of infections..
Trying to live a normal life, well as normal as we can, is not being in denial of our own strength and physical capacity.
I am only saying that because when I took the train across Switzerland, France and England on January 3rd I knew in the back of my mind I was presuming and I paid for it! Still am on Feb 1st.
So watch football on tv mate for a little while and let us know how you are getting on xx

There are just times when these things can be so frustrating and really bring us down. Time to be kind to yourself for a bit. You will rev up again when you are ready.
Hi Andy, So Sorry, As everyone says, Dam Lung Condition. You are so Positive, I'm sure you will be back running soon, in the meantime the Body has told you to rest up now, just for a little while. Enjoy your Book. I buy my daughter in Law (she's a Big Marathon Babe) Magazines called " Running" she loves them. Just a thought. Stay Strong Andy. XXX

Hope you don't mind but I read a few of your most recent posts and like our very clever,knowledgeable members have indicated.....even you,the dodgylungrunner will have times when your body tells you to "take things easy for a while"! One good point is that your able to see/feel that your body wasn't its usual self and that has to be taken as good. Some people don't get any warnings and end up in A&E so ok I'd be saying to myself," ok, time to rest over this weekend and then see how I'm feeling etc".
However,I am full of admiration for your determination to stay as for as possible and give your dodgy lungs a good run for their money!!
