Spirometry

I posted this earlier and someone replied but it’s disappeared, I’ve probably deleted it by accident. Just wondered if anyone could explain the reading for me please.

I think there is a comment that is missing. I think it is saying “Severe retsricted...”. Can you have a look and see what the rest of that sentence says? It is what I though from your numbers. The clue is in the high ratio of FEV1/FVC. 102.8%. Obstructive disease comes out with a low ratio. But we cannot diagnose here. We are not doctors. You must see your own doctor and ask for an explanation. I leapt in because I am nosy and always interested in Spirometry results!

Apologies for jumping the gun

Hi Kate, It does say severe restricted but I’m confused by the numbers. I thought the 79.49 meant it was good.

Thanks for your reply

It is a bit confusing because the percentage number of FEV1/FVC looks as if it’s predicted whereas it is an actual ratio. But please ignore everything I am saying. It really is none of my business. And please go and see your doctor.

And let me know what s/he says.

I’m asking on here as it’s virtually impossible to see the doctor, the appointments are like gold dust lol.

Thanks again

You can look it all up on the internet. Search for spirometry results showing obstructive and restrictive disease.

Was the test done at your GPS or as part of an outpatient appointment?

Hi it was at my Gps. I’ve tried looking it up but I’m none the wiser lol

I am much more familiar with results for someone with obstructive disease and really have no experience in interpreting results for someone with restrictive disease so am afraid I can’t be of much help. Hopefully someone will reply that has experience with restrictive disease.
