Hi

You would be better speaking to the particular airline involved, as to their requirements.

If in U.K. and planning on flying abroad, you are not allowed to take NHS supplied oxygen equipment out of U.K.

Thank you I have no plans to fly out of UK at minute, just Belfast/Liverpool but had thought possibly at start of next year to maybe travel to Canaries.

I have until recently always had holidays abroad and I have always taken my BOC cylinders with me to use during the flights. I have not been told I could not do so, the airline have always accepted them and I have no problems. Always take 2 to make sure I am totally covered both ways in case of any delays.

Probably the same ruling applies to oxygen cylinders as diving cylinders in that they must be empty, depressurised ,valves removed and carried in the hold of the aircraft.regards Ski's

Hi Ronald49 I'd recommend speaking with the airline that you are due to travel with. Each airline has slightly different policies and procedures when it comes to carrying oxygen, so best thing is to get in touch with whoever does the route you are looking at.

Best wishes,

Ben

Thank you so much Ben.I joined this site for my husband and we are getting the oxygen on Monday. We haven’t any plans to fly in near future but our daughter lives in England & although we normally travel by ferry we were just wondering what the position would be if we needed to get there quickly.

Hi

If you fly with Tui you can get oxygen on the flight free. You can organise oxygen in the canaries through your EHIC card if you require oxygen for 15 hours or more where are you going exactly.

We haven’t really decided Dave but had thought of Canaries about Feb time.My husband wouldn’t need oxygen on the plane as it’s only for walking so good to know it’s available there.Thank you.

You would need a fit to fly letter for the airline . I would get that sorted soon as quite often there is a wait for the test. you might find oxygen is needed for the flight.

If you only need it at your uk destination your oxygen supplier can arrange for it to be delivered there on your arrival.

If you do go to the canaries you will need to apply for it in advance (a few months)

My understanding is you can only use Oxygen Concentrators on an airplain. And they have to approved ones. Some airlines will rent them on the flights. Good luck!
