Hello flaz

I'd recommend using a Neti pot. It sounds a bit gross but it really helped me when I was having sinus problems. There's lots of info on the internet and also YouTube videos on how to do it.

Hope this helps

Hi Flaz, You might need antibiotics - I had the same for weeks and went to GP. He advised nasal spray, which I was already using and antibiotics which worked

Neti pot worked wonders for me also.

A simple remedy which works each time is to breathe out, then close your mouth and at the same time hold both nostrils closed for as long as is comfortable. May be repeated.

A few years ago I had a really bad sinus infection. I was totally deaf in one ear and the other wasn't so good Doc advised holding my nose and mouth and blow. A few days later heard a loud bang It was actually my ears clearing Amazingly it worked I work in a small pharmacy and advise this for customers with sinus probs. X

Many thanks for your remedy. I always do as I suggested and it works each time.

If you go down the antibiotic route, make sure you take a good probiotic as the antibiotic will also kill off good bacteria making you vulnerable to more infections.

My started about a year ago can't figure it out. But there is a cream you can get it works better than the spray..

I did have that problem but now use Vicks First Defence nasal spray at least once every day (2 or 3 squirt) on the advice of some kind person on this site who recommended it's use as a defence against recurring infections and have found not only has it cleared my nose but also have not had an infection that needed antibiotics since I started in December so cannot recommend highly enough - worth a try I would suggest as I always thought my infections lived and developed in my continually previously blocked nose - anyway good luck xxx

This sounds really positive and I am going to try it. I am on 24hr high level (15) oxygen and would really like to stop the infection recurrence. I also thought the bacteria live and develop my nose! will let you know result

I have had a constant blocked nose for some years. Had my nose lasered at one point but that did not make a difference. Now just prescribed nasal spray which does not clear the nose, just causes blood when I try to blow my nose. But told to just keep using the spray.

Steam inhalation is the best way to go. A little menthol crystals or Vicks

Just in case, ask your GP to check for nasal polyps. For years I would get an occ'l blocked nose - talk like Donald Duck - then it would clear up after a few days. Finally the polyps were seen and removed and the problem didn't reoccur for another six or seven years. More polyps, but I had been told they would be back. So far, have had them removed three times - just an overnighter in hospital required.

I use a neti pot twice a day - better than the beconase and flucticasone - just warm water and salt

Thank you. I will try the steam inhalation and probably a neti pot. Where do you get those? If all fails I will go back to GP, so fed up with it.

I am prescribed Flixonase nasal spray, I use it twice a day. I have had 2 nose ops to try and open up the airways but they just reverse back eventually. I get on really well with flixonase although I think it may be steroid based. My GP told me never to use the nose strips, not sure why.

I had the same thing and was using a saline spray and occasionally a decongestant spray when I was desperate for relief I thought it would never go however since my last lot of antibiotics to clear a chest infection it has finally gone so it must have been l linked I assume? X

Seawater nasal wash, or saline monodoses morning and evening, not before bed, watch your ears. Don’t blow your nose hard. Always close one nostril ehen you rinse then the other.

Have an ENT check up to see if you have developed polyps or anything as such.

It takes time, like quite a time to correct things..be patient 😊

Take care x
