Following the publication of ‘Achieving world-class cancer outcomes: a strategy for England 2015-2020’ england.nhs.uk/2015/07/19/5... an Independent National Cancer Advisory Group is being established to both advise and assess on progress in implementation of the recommendations within the strategy.

The inaugural chair will be Sir Harpal Kumar, CEO of Cancer Research UK, who also chaired the Independent Taskforce which developed the strategy.

Membership of the Group will include both professional bodies and representatives from cancer charities and also two patient representatives.

Cancer Research UK has been asked to help with the recruitment of these patient representatives so we are therefore seeking self-nominations for these positions. Knowledge of cancer services, the NHS and experience of working within similar national fora will be beneficial.

The Group will meet formally 2-3 times a year but there will also be opportunity to participate in broader discussions about elements of the strategy implementation.

Applications will close 29 January 2016 and shortlisted candidates will be invited for interview on 4/5 February 2016. The Advisory Group will meet for the first time on 8 March 2016 (venue tbc but central London).

Reasonable travel expenses, together with an honorarium for your time will be provided.
