Just as I thought, she was decidedly sniffy about the nail varnish but I'm afraid I ignored her pursed lips...and I've lost a bit of weight...not much, but enough for her heave a huge sigh.
But the very best thing is I'm going to have a new toy...I only have four ambulant oxygen bottles a month and they are the small ones...that's enough for the winter when I rarely go out anywhere but hopeless for the summer...one bottle lasts about four hours, so you can see going out for the day means almost two bottles. The Consultant says I can have a portable concentrator...it comes with its own little trolley so you can drag it behind you. It's charged up via the cigarette lighter in a car...re-chargeable batteries or plugged straight into the mains. Excellent! I was thrilled to bits, which when you think about it is quite sad.
She told me something interesting about being a retainer...if you wake up feeling groggy or with a pounding headache when you've already been diagnosed with COPD...that is down to an excessive level of carbon dioxide...basically it's acting like a poison to your system...her advice was to go straight to the hospital and not wait about. Severe nightmares are another symptom of too much carbon dioxide...she didn't think that applied to me though 'cos I've had nightmares since childhood.
Then we went to buy Himself a camera...he's wanted one of his own forever and I've yearned for a better zoom...we've bought a very nice Nikon with an 18 zoom lens...half price in a sale which was even better and it's simple enough to use...point and shoot or there's more complicated bits if you're feeling brave.
Now I'm worn out...so supper and early bed for me.
Well apart from the disapproving sighs, you have managed to get something to make life a little easier, great, bet you will be out and about now snapping every interesting thing you see, enjoy every minute.
Sounds like a good day to me, I love my trolly I can drag it through the grass to the washing-line with one arm and carry the basket in the other 😀 glad you found a good camera😁 xxx
Tut, tut, blue nail varnish indeed but glad you got more portable oxygen to get you out and about and well done on the weight loss. Good luck to you health wise too vashti. You take care and watch out for that camera being pointed at you - you know what men are like with their new toys!
Take care and wishing you well and Himself too of course. xxxx
Result. Enjoy your day trips out. My bottles only last an hour and I have 3 of them. If we are travelling any distance will put my back up cylinders in car for journey so I can spend my 3 hours actually outside.
That's what happens when you get addicted to 15L per min. Perhaps I should join OAA oxygen addicts anonymous or should that be anonymouse 😀 x 🐀
Vashti, delighted to hear about your new mobile generator and the new camera for himself. You should be able to get out and about much more now and himself can take loads of photos. Must be like Christmas and birthdays at your house today.
It's when you 'keep' too much carbon dioxide in your system...you ought to have equal amounts of oxygen and carbon dioxide but if you're a 'retainer' then the levels alter...it was that that which led to my collapse a couple of years ago...hope this helps...xx
Morning Vashti, A good outcome then, sounds as tho you enjoyed the day,in spite of The Dragon, We will expect to see lovely pictures with the new camera. Hope you had a good sleep, dreaming of your new toy!. Best wishes Bulpit
