Britney Spears. Well.. Oops, I did it again.

'It played with my heart' (well lungs, I suppose). Tomorrow's another day.. UCL greets me tomorrow morning as I work on the new book. I shall sit, once more, in Gordon Square with my copy of Alan Carr's book (again..). Too many 'young' people around yesterday who I talk and talk to and love being with. Unfortunately, they all smoked and smoked. Shouldn't have gone out to clear the ashtray. Did so well. It was today, when I cleared the ashtray away. Wasn't working today... so had time to resume bad habits.

Yo, all's well though. As I say, tomorrow's another day and you guys just carry wimps like me along.

It's another day of making it hard Smartt. It's exactly what I did. It took me ages to give up. I just realised one day how silly I was prolonging the agony. If I hadn't I think I would have been dead as I had a really bad asthma attack. That was after I had given up for quite a few years. Just one cigarette keeps the craving going. Just think if you can stick it out for three weeks it starts to get easier. What is three weeks out of your life. Not a lot.

Hi Smartt what are you like?in it difficult the right day will happen along soon practice makes perfect :) My boys both smoke but no longer around me when there is anyone about who smokes it does have a slight negative impact so be careful eh,if you can keep away from being with smokers it helps especially at the beginning,Keep trying goodluck. :) Janexx

We all trip at times. The trick is to get back up and start (or stop!) again. Plod on Smartt, you will get there. x

Thanks guys. Starting the plod, again, at lunchtime. I'm getting seriously fed up with this.

Hi smart. You know what you did. Don't do it again. You know what to do. I wish you the very best of luck. I know it is hard. If it was easy, there would not be a problem. You have set yourself a challenge. I applaud your efforts. Keep well :-) :-) Alison

Best of luck with not smoking again. You will help people around, not just yourself. Passive smoking is as harmful to others than to yourself. My dad smoked. I got ill because of it, bronchiectasis and loads of infections. If he's known, perhaps he would have stopped.

So If you stop, bravo, because you are helping yourself and those around you! keep the hard work up, you'll be proud of it in the end!

Hi Smartt. I saw this today and thought of you.

The moment you're ready to quit is usually the

Moment right before the miracle happens.

Don't give up.

Mavary, that is so, so nice, lovely and beautiful! Yes, I love that. Moment before the miracle happens. Had a moment slightly like that on the way home from work this evening. Reached Herne Hill (SE London) and had an encounter with a very beautiful woman (probably unnecessary to add that there was nothing weird about it); but a bit like the 'Moment right before the miracle happens'. I hope I was right in that encounter; I think I helped her in her distress and I think your unassuming but beautiful posting will help me. Thank you so much for that. If you want to know the full story am happy to email you. Grr. Last (I hope) cigarette in Gordon Square this afternoon. Cold, bright, beautiful day; lots of students from UCL (where I work) hanging around - full of hope and optimism). Hopefully I'm heralding the miracle you speak of. Thank you. Smartt.
