Hi, I use Combivent in my nebuliser...the instruction leaflet inside the box will tell you the usual dose If there is a pharmacist open near you today you could ask them for help.

If I am having increasing difficulty breathing I go to A&E or the GP drop in clinic

If you are having problems breathing today, and needing more doses...I would ring 111 for advice

There is always the BLF helpline which is open tomorrow, and ask your gp or practice nurse

Hi John

See that you are on Combivent. A word of warning-I was on combivent for a year before I realised that the side effect I was getting ie feeling suicidal. I felt so bad that I went to the doc and asked him for sleeping tablets to take an overdose. Unfortunately, I was taking it through a nebuliser for over a year before I realised that it was the Combivent that was causing the problem. When I stopped all the symptoms disappeared and I felt a different person.

I know, of course, that medicine affect persons differently, but be on the lookout for any symptoms like those described above.

Good luck with it.

Many thanks for your input regarding combivent through a nebuliser. I've been on it for the last 18yrs & now on oxygen full time & I'm finding that even with oxygen it's a struggle. I will cut out combivent for a week or so & see if I notice any change, & let you know how I get on.

Rgds, John

Hope you are ok, have you told your gp you are cutting back on your Combivent especially after all these years... be very careful. I have a problem with all relievers and need to balance my use of them with my steroids.

I have been taking Combivent on and off for 20years now.

Let me know how you are ...you can send me a message if you want

Good luck

HI again...managed to go all day Thursday with no Combivent...then in the night I got a tight chest so just took a couple of inhalations from my neb. and it settled. Best wishes J

Hi John119wards, to be safe, I would personally only take medicine as prescribed by your consultant or doctor.

The next best thing if you are unsure would be to check the information leaflet that comes with your medicine or make a telephone appointment to discuss the situation with your doctor.

Normally any worsening of symptoms and a need to have more medicine than prescribed is a very good indication you need to check in with the doctor anyway, preferably sooner rather than later.

The other options is to check dose, warnings of the nebulized medicine online at maybe drugs.com or medicines.org.uk.

Keep safe and breathe easy.
