Hi and congratulations for being on your way to recovery. I had the Ross PEARS done nearly 3 years ago (1 October) and generally I feel very well. I will soon have my annual check, so fingers crossed it will confirm everything is fine. Only problems sometimes I still have is a feeling of my heart wanting to slow down, which is fixed by the pacemaker I have but it's a strange feeling. My aortic valve problem messed up my heart rhythm and I had a pacemaker installed 3 days after the Ross.

How are you feeling? Were did you have the surgery done?

Hi! Thanks for replying. I had it done in freemans hospital Newcastle.

Not sure how many people had this procedure which made me nervous as I was only 40 (maybe old in my kids eyes!) was so hard to choose this procedure or mechanical .

Anyway done this now and have to except it as one point in recovery I was getting worse in my walks and getting light headed and was only getting to 108bpm totally, hardly walking on flat. (Was so upset)

Just had my pacemaker checked (Also had to get one installed 2 weeks post Operation ) which was upsetting at the time, I wonder if this is common with this procedure?. They changed settings and feel a lot better and not getting light headed anymore. I think my pacemaker is set to 150bpm upper rate, Wasn’t before. But this will be checked again to see if it’s ok.

I just started to walk faster now as couldn’t before but nervous it will get worse again.

Are you on beta blockers and how much?

Do you by any chance go rock climbing or indoor bouldering ? I did this before the pacemaker, now upset it maybe too risky. (Hence why chose Ross.. now I have pacemaker to worry about not warfin)

Suppose it’s still early days and it’s been an emotional rollercoaster for me and such a traumatic experience.

Thanks for getting back and hope the check goes well? Where’s your hospital?

😃❤️‍🩹❤️
