Hi all. I've been diagnosed with Angina as well as a thickening of the left side of the heart. The thickening is due to hereditary high blood pressure that I was diagnosed with aged 34/35 I'm 49, always been physically fit (was running 5k is just over 19 minutes 5 years ago) and not really smoked (apart from a phase in my early 20's)
I'm peed off as I've always lead an OK lifestyle although I've been partial to a full english.
Good news is, I can exercise again having not done so for a while so will be taking it steady. Bad news (kind of) is, I've been prescribed nitrates that I've had a migraine with daily for over a week since I started taking them, swollen ankles and more recently- tiredness. I spoke to my gp yesterday who said this is all common and should subside soon. Fingers crossed it does as I've just got some new running shoes!
Anyway, its been helpful posting this and for anyone experiencing any chest pain or unexplained tiredness, please get checked out. I had my blood pressure taken by chance in my early 30's which lead to the first diagnosis, I'm convinced I wouldn't be here now if it wasn't for that. I hope all is going ok for others with a similiar diagnosis/ journey.
