Stress and ectopic/palpitations link?

Hello, I am wondering if anyone here knows more about the link between chronic stress and ectopics. Is there one? And if there is, is it immediate or chronic that poses a risk?

My doctors tell me I have both PVCs and PACs. The issue is the extremity of them, it's hard to carry on about your business when your chest feels like it's vibrating. I wasn't really feeling them until last year, after a new job and some family stress and now it feels like my heart is shaking in my chest.

What concerns me is I don't tend to be stressed when they kick off, it tends to be when I'm sat down zoning out. I wish I could go back to not feeling them again. I've cut down to 1 cup of caffeine a day and I don't drink alcohol, no other risk factors exist for me. Rarely, a few come at once, but doctors say there's nothing to worry about.

Hello, I am no medical person so can only speak from experience, but stress certainly affects my ectopics. And I realise that keeping calm can be very difficult. I avoid caffeine, try and get 7 hrs sleep a night and also find chamomile tea helps as does chair yoga. I am told they are nothing to worry about and reading the entries on this site a lot of people seem to have them. I hope you find peace of mind. Best wishes.

I definitely think mine are brought on my stress and anxiety. Sometimes I don’t have to feel particularly anxious, sometimes it’s a subconscious thing. But if I’m in a stressful situation or really anxious about something then mine will definitely come on more frequently. Mine are also connected to my digestive system. But I’ve been reassured over the past few years that they aren’t a cause of concern and won’t damage my heart.

Some similar experiences here! I was on holiday after my stents, during my travels I had one incident where my heart was vibrating just like a mobile phone! It was a one off event and after good night sleep it went away. But later events showed I had AF and was started on Bisoprolol.

As for caffiene, being a creature of habit, all my tea is now peely wally, well watered down!

My ectopics always get worse when I’m stressed and they were always worse just before my period and horrendous during peri menopause so definitely a hormonal link for me. I’m on Bisoprolol for SVT which has really helped keep my ectopics under control.
