Atrial septal defect

Last yr ,went to a&e with suspected t.i.a, after endless amount of tests all coming back reasonably ok, had echocardigram done which found a aneurysm of atrial septal ,but no sign of patent foramen ovaleSince the suspected t.i.a had dizzy spells ,with blurred, sometimes loss of vision,

First of all just started occasionally now near everyday some cases so servere had to visit a&e ,4 times now where it got so servere had to be took to a&e by a colleague or supervisor,

Which everytime at a&e test been inconclusive, as when said about the atrial septal not took seriously,

Could these symptoms be related to this or something more sinister or less sinister, I honestly don't know ,

It's starting to get me down now not knowing and also starting to scare me as happening to regular now also

Any advice /help appreciated

Thank you

Some cardios want to leave a hole in the heart esp.if you are young. I was found to have one in my early 70's after a TIA . cardio. thought it was also associated with an embolism. It was thought I had had it all my life but I had led a very life, had a baby and chased arought the world.Nobody seemed to have found it up until then. Docs. dec. though to close mine as it was thought I might get a larger stroke and Afib was also in the mix,at that time untreated. In your place i would be pressing for a better diagnosis., maybe, through a private doc if nhs are not helping? In any case do pursue this and get some answers to your problems.

PFOs are there from birth - ie the hole should close at birth. My cardiologoist says about 20 to 25 per cent of the population have them and they are often not found until an autopsy is done! Mine wasn't found until I was in my 70s (during a routine echo. Apparently they are hard to spot, depending on the way you are lying, or the skill of the sonographer, etc) None of my doctors appear to worry about it, or the atrial aneurysm that goes with mine.

It's hard not knowing what problem is,I had AF last July, was told by a&e dr that it was permanent and tough, after echo and bubble test- have a large pfo, now back in sinus rhythm and have no problems, have probably had from birth, waiting to see if have it closed or not
