Just had a basic 2 lead Pacemaker installed 8 months from referral. It seems to have sorted out my slow rested heartbeat

Glad to hear that. I am guessing you will be seeing the Cardiac Technicians in a few weeks time when they will check it is running optimally so if you have any concerns before then contact them and, if needed, they will have you in early to make tweeks. My husband found he was breathless on exertion and we went in and they "speeded him up".

Hi Cotonh, yes exactly that, 6 weeks in.I'm doing fine, still a bit raw and sore.

Thanks for your advice

Cotonh,Meant to say they gave me an electronic monitoring device to place at my bedside. Aparently, cleverly, it monitors my pacemaker and any problems get alerted back to the tech team automatically - amazing. Does your husband have one of these?

Yes although we did not get our monitor for about 10 weeks after the operation. Read the instructions carefully because you can also send a manual alert if you are worried about anything. My husband fainted and we pressed the button as directed and emailed them to say what had happened. They then rang us back to say nothing unusual was detected from the pacemaker point of view which was reassuring. We have a "remote device check" this Monday i.e. they have a look at your readings over the last months and tweek things without you needing to be present. Here they see you in person at 6 weeks and for your next appointment but then they deal with it remotely and ring you to discuss what happened. They aim to see you every 2 years although they said this was not necessary from the device point of view it was more that it kept the patient saner!

Good to hear that you are getting on okay SteelyD. Even better for me to read the comments as I get my pacemaker on 26 June and found them very helpful.

Glad to hear everything went well and the pacemaker sorted out the slow heart rate. What symptoms were you having prior to it and how slow did your heart rate go? I've been told I might need a pacemaker but I'm having more test yet.

Just some palpitations but I have a fancy watch and on a resting beat my heart was going down as low as 32 bpm but averaging about 40
