I’ve been on beta blockers for 4 months now. I’m on a very low dose of 1.25
on them, my resting heart rate is typically in the 45-50 range… when I go for a 30 minute walk, my heart rate stays in the upper 80’s.
about a week ago I started my repeat prescription as normal. But, I haven’t felt right since… much more anxiety for literally no reason.
I’ve also noticed my heart rate on walks has gone up to the low 100… and my resting heart rate is now in the 58-62 range.
I know that is “normal” for most, but it’s not normal for me.
I’ve called my gp and waiting for them to call me back… but I wanted to see if anyone had similar? Did I get a bad batch? Is my body just used to them and need to be upped?

it’s possible that either your body is having trouble getting used to your medication, and either it will or it won’t improve, or that your medication needs tweaking - and that’s the normal way of things with hypertension.
So it might be wise to speak to the pharmacist employed by your doctor’s group of surgeries, if you are in the UK, who can recommend changes to your doctor. Or indeed if you manage to speak to your doc soon of course!
Thanks! I spoke with my gp and we’re going to do some tests. I naturally have a pretty low resting heart rate, so they never increased my dosage.. but it may be time… so we shall see
