I've personally not experienced it but I do know of others with severe HF who've had dialysis, it's not a unusual for someone with HF to need dialysis. Have you been told you need it? Normally they don't consider dialysis until your eGFR is 10 or less

I was told I would not get it but not why. My GFR is 25 but falls far lower if I take my heart pills.

Are you on diuretics? As they can affect your eGFR. But I think you should be asking why they've said you won't be able to have dialysis, kidney disease & heart failure pretty much go hand in hand as the heart meds can/do affect your kidneys. Never be afraid to question your medical team & challenge (in a polite way of course) any decisions you're not happy with. As I said I know of a few people with severe HF and they've been able to have dialysis.

My husband has severe heart failure & he has stage 3b kidney disease, his eGFR has gone as low as 31 before now, though it's currently stable at 37. My husband has been really concerned about the kidney issues, he was told whilst it's low it stable and that's the main thing and that they only consider dialysis when his eGFR is 10 or below.

I don't know whether this is relevant to your situation but almost immediately following my heart valve replacement in 2020, I developed kidney failure, I had never suffered kidney problems before. I was placed on dialysis for a short period whilst still in ICU. Unfortunately I spent 8 weeks in hospital rather than the expected 1 week; thankfully my kidney function did return to normal. I wish you well.

another one of those “oh yeah, I had that” moments.

I had an episode of hypovolaemic shock when my volumes went down to as low as 15% and they put me on dialysis for a short period - I think 24/48 hours (I was highly sedated) - whilst my kidneys recovered. Apparently my kidneys recovered well and weren’t damaged.
