Scar healing

Hi had a double bypass 5 years ago but one of my scars from the drains has still not healed fully. Medical people dont seem worried but it is surely not right. Anyone else have the same issues.

Hello :-)

I have not come across this before and 5 years is to me more than enough time for them to heal

When you say they have not healed are they still open , do they cause you any issues ?

If it were me I would keep pushing and even asked to be referred to find out why they are not healing and what they can do

I would also give the BHF Nurses a ring and see if they have any insight on this and advise

Let us know how you get on :-) x

Hi Andytriumph63, I had OHS a year past November and my scars have healed great, however they do get itchy, I don't know why that is. I think the same as you, its not right, any scar should heal fully. I prefer to speak with my cardiac nurse rather that my GP. Keep well.

I had the same with the drains, visited a surgeon and he fixed it. It’s a small procedure and took hardly 5 minutes. I advise you do the same otherwise you’ll have droplets of blood on your tops.
