So fed up : Had my rehabilitation today... - British Heart Fou...
So fed up
My father had massive open heart surgery and has AF and heart failure, the one thing that made a difference to his recovery was the exercise rehab classes, they really give him the confidence to exercise again. He had aches and pains to, but got some painkillers to get through it. Stick with it, the first three were tough, but after that he loved it......the difference it makes is massive.
The aches and pains are normal after a major op like that you will get them for quite a while so just think of them as proof your doing the right things to get better.
That rehab is critical don't skimp on it as your full recovery will then take much longer. Just look forward, it all sunshine on the horizon 😊
Hi! I had my sudden heart attack at 54 , 5 years ago. I’m sure you’ll get better then fitter. Your heart is probably still bruised with a bit of damage. Your new heart tablets will make you feel tired and achy too until they settle down.
I remember someone posting that when the doctors did the emergency angiogram and stenting they look at all the surrounding “tubes” to see if there is any more problems . Look at it like an MOT. If they said you’re good to go , trust them. Rehab classes gave me confidence to start exercising by myself. They also explained that regular cardio exercise is needed to build up your heart muscle but that will come in time as your just starting out on your new life journey.
Good luck and love every day ❤️
The same here. I used to have chest pains and twinges after my Stent in July and it just takes time to all settle down. I have the odd one now buy I worry about it less now. It takes time to get back to that 'peace of mind' but it does come x
When you have any heart event it is normal to relate any aches and pains as heart related. Constant anxiety is not good for your general health and is stealing your quality of life from you. Anybody can and do have heart attacks, stents etc without warning and most are well and truly well looked after medically, so like anybody else of course you can have another heart attack? unlikely but possible. If you continue worrying all the time then in 10 or 20yrs you will so regret not living your life to the full. If you need help with your anxiety ask your GP what can help you as it is treatable nowadays. I hope you do sort it out and wish you a long and happy life.
stick with the cardiac rehab, I was worried about every ache and pain but completing cardiac rehab helped me get a bit of confidence back thst I could exert myself and not keel over. I had strange feelings of discomfort in my chest for quite a while it’s 7 months since my HA and two stent procedures and it’s only the last few weeks that I haven’t felt it. I went to see a nurse through occupational health and she told me it would be a year before I was fully recovered. Hang in in there. Xx
