Private Transcatheter aortic valve replacement
The best indicator on cost is to find a private health provider like Nuffield or Spire with a hospital that you would want to use and talk to them about their fees, although indicative pricing can often be found on their websites.
Dear Furbaby
I paid for my OHS because covid had closed all the nhs cardiac wards. I was offered the option of a TAVi but I decided on the OHS. One aspect of TAVi was that, if it didn’t go well, then they would proceed to do OHS.
The TAVi would have been done at the same hospital.
I couldn’t get any reasonable estimate of the costs. For instance, the valve alone was quoted at £28,000 but it was charged at £6,000. My final bill was £43,000. I could have said no thanks but I would not have survived. I have already received pensions that exceed the cost.
annoyingly I paid £41,000 thinking that was that, but months later I got the anaesthetists charge of £2,500.
But I got rolls Royce Royce treatment and very good telephoned help during recovery.
Yes the recovery period was about three months. I don’t know how long recovery from TAVi might be. My friend had a TAVi but then had problems from his leg.
Since my op, the valves can now accept a TAVi if you need a replacement. That’s a thought, especially for your age group. I am past 70 so expectancy for the valve was less relevant.
Not exactly what you asked but I can only tell you what I experienced. So pick and mix any info that might help.
