I’ve succumbed. I ate a chocolate reindeer - yes all of it. Now I’m contemplating my poor arteries. Devils got work for idle hands

I hardly think one chocolate reindeer will significantly affect your your arteries… unless it was life size?

hi fish face 101. It wasn’t the mini size one. The head and ears were wonderful thick chocolate, drool provoking. I should be remorseful . It was delicious. Slap my hands please

I am surprised that people here don't know that eating chocolate in the days around Christmas don't have an effect, for highly complex technical reasons that its far too difficult to explain here.

indeed, it is a well known fact that that there is a "chocolate dispensation" for chocolate eaten during the 12 days of christmas, the week either side of a birthday, the week after easter and when standing 😉😀

Also when you have your eyes closed. That also relates to calories as they don't count when you eat something with your eyes shut

Give yourself a break, it's Christmas 😉.If it's any consolation I've had a couple of mince pies and ice cream and today a bit of Christmas 🍰. Yum yum.

lily you have made me feel better. Haha( no no shouldn’t say that should I)

Hello :-)

When I speak to my Consultant , Surgeon , Doctor and Rehab Nurses they all say the same when I ask about Christmas and that is to have your treats as once a year won't harm you and I am sure one Chocolate Reindeer will not have harmed you at all and I hope you enjoyed it :-)

We just have to have willpower that after we have had our treats we make sure we go back to eating as healthy as we can :-) x

Hello :-)

I am not a Doctor but I think I am right that one chocolate Reindeer is not going to harm you :-) x

Lol just one I've had the prosecco, wine, chocolates, trifle, probably put on a few pounds, considering all what I'm going through it's not stopping me over indulging 😂😂😂😂

I believe a chocolate reindeer is on your “ one a year “ nhs list. If you eat one a year you lose weight , your hair becomes shinier and you can see better at night.

If you’re concerned just say “ get thee behind me chocolate reindeer “ ( although it’s a bit late now ) cheer yourself up by realising all the Christmas items are really cheap now so buy stuff for next year.

PS you can get chocolate reindeer on prescription, if you get on Santas good list. 🎅

Happy New Year 😊

The trick is to make sure you're here next year so you can have another one!! :)

I wouldn't worry about one chocolate reindeer. It probably gave you a lift you needed at the time. Just try to avoid excesses in the year ahead. 😊

I have a tin of plain chocolate in the kitchen, and allow myself one square a day.

It must be growing up in the fifties, but we learnt to adjust to rationing.

Regarding reindeer, my manual says only eat chocolate ones on a day containing the letter A, and stand one one leg whilst reciting the Lord’s Prayer backwards.

Hi Fynndog, you have made me laugh🤣. I want to tell you "me too". Not only I have succumbed...I have surrendered. I have postponed my annual physical from December to March next year such that I can enjoy all the goodies during this holiday☺

Hmm, I didn't get any chocolate, but have to admit to consuming a couple of small pieces of Baklavas.... filo pastry, nuts and honey. Now off for a 6 mile power walk to compensate! 😂

Not much point in worrying about everthing you eat as we are still human. I for one think I eat healthy with all my veg, fruit etc daily and I also eat a steak occasionaly a trifle occasionaly and maybe a few beers on a Saturday night. I exercise daily, do upper body strenght training daily (5kg so nothing damaging) am 72 years old and carry very little excessive weight. Its so important to have a little of what you like and quality of life by my reasoning. I wouldent give that chocolate a second thought to be perfectly honest. Eat normal and sensible and avoid the Amazonian plant type diets🙃. Happy and healthy new year to everybody on this forum.

It's better than rain dear. But remember the theobromine in chocolate is very dangerous for dogs LOL.

I'm right there with you. I've been doing great but yesterday I broke down ate a king size chocolate peanut butter filled Santa. Now I'm filled with a ton of guilt (and peanut butter).

I have eaten far too much cake, pudding, chocolate, cream I’m 72 now and I’m not going to deny myself the odd treat or three all through the year l try to eat sensibly and healthy. I personally think that it’s boring if you can’t have a blow out now and again. I don’t drink alcohol or smoke so deserve to be naughty now and again

I’m 79 and I eat everything. I may not get another chance !

The stress from feeling guilty is probably far worse than one chocolate reindeer. You can have the occasional treat, but enjoy it guilt free , as my Aunt used to say , " A little of what you fancy does you good!"

Maybe next year choose reindeers etc. from good dark chocolate as your rare treat is packed with lovely flavonoids and antioxidants that are good for heart health in moderation. The odd glass of red wine with a little dark choc , as long as you are allowed alcohol on your meds , can be beneficial for mind and body.

Feeding your happy self helps reduce stress related depression which can effect your heart health and us soul destroying at this time of year when you are surrounded by indulgence that you can't enjoy.

I don't know what all the fuss is about.I eat a bar of chocolate every day of the week and have done for years. My favourite time of year is Easter when I eat lots of eggs until I feel sick yummy.x
