Constipation is something I have regular as I also have IBS and can sympathize

I always say I spend more time in my Bathroom than any other room in the house !

Hope you have a nice evening :-) x

This post illustrates why I like this forum so much. There are no restrictions on the subject matter under discussion and the replies are always supportive and helpful. This is a great community. Thank you.

Try mentioning a certain infection and see how restricted you are. I can't understand why, since its connection to matters cardiac recently is well known.

Yes, I had forgotten that. That restriction is very odd and illogical.

I thought at one stage after my op I was going to need dynamite 😅😅

Hey Pat! They threatened me with an enema whilst I was still in hospital cos I hadn’t gone since the op. Luckily the next day with the help of sepositories (no idea how to spell that!) I managed to go but I battled with constipation for about 6 week after the op. Sennakot became my friend as laxido/mocicol weren’t enough. Also, make sure you drink plenty and don’t sit on the loo forever straining, it’ll give you piles or little tears. Trust me 😂🤣

Hi, Kiwi Fruit and dried apricots and flax seed on your porridge in the morning seems to work. Suppositories, glycerin ones from boots also in desperation, don’t strain you’ll get piles.🙈

Yep I am regular as clockwork but the first 2-3 months I had to use those. All back to normal now

I'm not a fan of the Senna as it makes your stools very dry and rough I got on far better with the other one

Was awful after I was discharged just over 3 weeks ago. I suspect the morphine they gave me had something to do with it. That, and getting used to new meds. Seems to have settled down, thankfully, although I'm eating plenty of fruit and veg and drinking loads of water. I also alternate between prunes and dried apricots with my morning porridge.

QUite normal on heart meds. Try laxido daily. Eat prunes if you can tolerate them and plenty of fibre. As others have said, don't strain- you'll get piles. You can buy glycerol suppositories at any chemist's just to get things started. Ask the chemist for advice. Better than doctors.
