Hello & Welcome :-)

I do not know the history how you have got to needing a triple Bypass but of course this will have come as a shock to you I think most of us feel the same when we hear those words

I had 3 heart attacks and knew deep down something was not right but was still shocked when I heard I needed a triple Bypass and was terrified this was just over a year ago

It will take a while to process and you will have lots of questions which if we can answer just ask and we will but there are so many of us on here that have had this op and I am the most anxious person yet I had it done and now I am answering you so you will get through this to :-)

It is not as bad as it sounds and you will have a new lease of life and it is good that they have found this is what you need as some don't get this chance so I know you will have a lot of negatives floating around at the moment but try and think of all the positives because there are quite a few

Everyone is here to listen and help you when you need to talk :-)

Thank you so much for you reply and kind words. You are correct in stating that there is so much to process and take in, it's overwhelming at the moment.

i had no real symptoms before being told I needed a bypass. No heart attack, no warning signs. I had been having some scans for a research project and no mention of it. In fact I was being told everything was looking like I had a strong heart! So I remember being told came as a complete shock.

i had gone in for a scan and wasn't allowed to leave again.

Give yourself time to process this and remember to ask as many questions as you need to understand.

It is seen now as being ra more routine operation and these surgeons do it day in and day out.

Dear Treeline7

A warm welcome to you into the forum and the vast knowledge and support that it has offered both me and many others.

How do you cope when the carpet has been pulled from underneath you? there simply is no answer that I can give that can truly comfort you through this first of many stages.

The main thing that I can tell you is that you are not alone and if its help you need then this is the place that can guide and advise you when you are ready to ask the second of many questions that you have.

I say second because the first brought you here to us and what a brave question it is.

I for one wanted to know everything about what was to happen, its procedure and the out come. others only want to know the minimal to get though.

And get though you will, with your loved ones and our help, you will be able to look back on this shocking time and realise that finding out the information that you have, has saved your life and extended it hopefully with a new one.

Take care, we are here for you at every stage.

Hi

I was same in shock ,why me , what will happen in future, I had mine 6 weeks ago ,the nurses where amazing after the op I was sitting up in chair after 2 days and walking at 4 days being discharged after 8 days as I had slight issue with lungs which is very common, the op you really won't know anything about until they gently wake you ,once out of icu start your breathing exercises straight away or as soon as you can.
