A year ago I had a C/A ,you don’t feel any pain you just collapse. Woke up three days later in hospital, I had tubes in places that I did not know I had. A year on and my recovery is almost there , I still get very tired quickly. The care and attention that I received in hospital was the best and has helped me get to ware I am at the moment . What I want to say is don’t give up keep working at it .

Cardiac Arrest recovery
So glad to hear how well you're doing and thank you for your encouraging words.
Hello
What a encouraging post
I am so pleased that you are now feeling better and that your recovery has gone so well
Thank you for sharing with us and giving hope to others x
good to hear, you are doing well.
I too had a cardiac arrest, in a carpark, just went down no warning.
I was told by someone give it a year, you will feel much better and sure enough, I realised I Had been in the garden and didn't Feel exhausted. Good luck with everything.
For me it's going on 18 months since a no-warning CA (same as others, woke up in hospital 36 hours later!) and I am probably 75% of where I was, especially with mental and physical endurance throughout the day.
The first six-12 months I was absolutely wrecked, could barely function and was wracked with anxiety. It's improved considerably, although I really don't do well in hot, humid weather anymore. Don't know if that's the meds or residual damage to heart muscle.
But most days (not all!) I am absolutely ecstatic to still be alive!
Hi Charliedog, that's great to hear, we are lucky to have the NHS as they do amazing things. I'm 3 years on from my SCA and doing really well.
Andy
I had a CA 10 years ago after taking my last swim for the year in the med near Toulon. We had been touring in our motorhome and I found Cinq Terre tiring but otherwise no real indicators. Woke up surrounded by French rescue party who had resuscitated me with electro shock then taken to a brand new hospital in Toulon with wife sleeping on camp bed in corner of huge suite and had a defib fitted within 7 days. French medical system was brilliant. I was driving motorhome back to UK within 10 days of CA and returned to UK where cardiologist and GP voiced amazement. I plodded on improving health slowly and have eventually returned to hill walking. Everything fine for 8 years until I discover I was suffering low blood pressure and on Bisprolol and Inspra! Stopped both myself and now have a reasonable BP and walking 6k very fast daily and often 10 k more casually. Just keep plodding on and check your meds/body - 73 now and hope to make 75.
Defib never functioned yet thankfully. Suspect Entresto has greatly improved my condition but my dosage has been cut due to impact on BP - vicious circle. Off for a 6k one hour walk now . Take care bye
Hi Charliedog 123
Today is the third anniversary of my out of hospital cardiac arrest, your experience virtually mirrors mine. Well done on being so positive, this helps tremendously with the recovery process.
I have always been a positive person and I believe that is one of the reasons I’m virtually back to where I was before the incident, the others have been the fantastic NHS and the support and encouragement from my wife and family.
Take care and enjoy every day
Great news. I'm glad you are doing so well. How is the person who must have given you CPR? They tend to get forgotten but the shock of actually saving someone's life can be huge and long lasting.
